Comfortable and Efficient Garage Insulation Services

If you're like most homeowners in Edmonton, your garage is one of the least insulated spaces on your property. That might not seem like a big deal—until winter hits. Without proper insulation, cold air easily seeps into your garage and eventually into your home, driving up your heating bills and creating a less comfortable environment. The same goes for the summer months, when an uninsulated garage traps heat and makes your space stuffy and hard to use.

At ProInsulate, we specialize in helping homeowners make their garages more energy-efficient, comfortable, and functional. Whether you use your garage for storage, as a workshop, or simply to protect your vehicles from the elements, insulation makes a big difference. It regulates temperature, prevents drafts, improves indoor air quality, and even boosts your property value. And with Edmonton's dramatic temperature swings, it's one of the smartest upgrades you can make.

  • Selecting the right insulation material depends on your goals, budget, and the garage's structure. Our experts at ProInsulate take the guesswork out of the process by helping you select the best solution for your needs and install it with precision.
    Benefits of Different Insulation Types:
    ● Fibreglass Batts: Affordable, high R-value, resists moisture and pests.
    ● Rockwool: Fire-resistant, water-repellent, long-lasting, and eco-friendly.
    ● Foam Board: Rigid, moisture-resistant, easy to cut and install, high R-value per inch.
    ● Spray Foam: Air-sealing, energy-efficient, soundproofing and vapour barrier in one.
    ● Cork: Eco-conscious, fire-resistant, antimicrobial, excellent for soundproofing.
No matter what material you choose, our team ensures proper installation for maximum energy savings and long-term performance.

  • Insulating your garage does more than regulate temperature—it adds value and versatility to your entire home. Whether your garage is attached or detached, the benefits extend beyond just comfort.
Where Garage Insulation Makes an Impact:
    ● Garage Walls and Ceilings: Retain heat in winter and cool air in summer.
    ● Garage Doors: Prevent direct drafts from entering the space.
    ● Shared Walls: Keep adjacent rooms in your home warmer and more energy-efficient.
    ● Workshops or Studios: Make the space usable year-round.
    ● Storage Areas: Protect temperature-sensitive tools, equipment, or seasonal items.
When every part of your garage is properly insulated, you'll notice the difference right away—in both comfort and utility costs.

Garage Insulation FAQs

  • There are two main types of spray foam insulation: open-cell and closed-cell.

Open-cell insulation is comprised of cells that are not completed encapsulated and intentionally left open creating a more flexible material. It is a good noise reduction option, and when correctly placed, open-cell spray foam insulation outperforms all other types of insulation. Compared to traditional insulation, open-cell foam insulation is a great low-cost alternative with better energy efficiency. It further provides excellent thermal comfort and indoor air quality while helping to decrease the danger of moisture issues. Hence, open-cell commercial spray foam insulation is the sound choice if you’re looking for a budget-friendly insulation solution.

Closed-cell insulation has enclosed cells that are smaller and more dense than open-cell insulation. This insulation is more ridged and is great for creating a water vapour barrier preventing moisture and humidity from passing through. Closed-cell spray foam insulation also has a higher R-value than open-cell insulation.

  • Insulation performance is measured in units called R-values. This is a rating of how well the insulation will prevent heat from passing through the material. When reading an R-value rating, it is per inch of the insulation thickness. So if a material has an R-value of 5, installing 3 inches of the product will result in an R-value of 15 for the insulated area. Insulation ratings vary greatly based on the material, it’s thickness, and density.

  • In most cases, you’ll need to remove interior or exterior sheathing before applying spray foam. Trying to add spray foam between wall studs through small access holes can result in bowed-out walls and other structural damage.

  • Choosing to invest in spray foam insulation for your property is a great decision because it is long lasting, provides superior levels of insulation, and can provide many additional benefits. Spray foam insulation creates an airtight, moisture resistant barrier with the highest R-value of any insulation products available on the market. Spray foam can reduce your heating expenses by 50% depending on your property structure and requires no maintenance when installed properly. Spray foam products can also offer soundproofing, fireproofing, and structural benefits.
